René Rückert MD, MBA

Dr. Rückert obtained his MD degree with highest honors at the Charité, Humboldt University Berlin, Germany. He also holds a MBA from a global leading busines school in the UK. He holds a board certification in Biochemistry and was trained in Immunology and Genetics at the Charité and at Yale University. Dr. Rückert held senior positions at Novartis in Basle where he lead blockbuster marketing and medical affairs in autoimmune indications as well as the Ophthalmology global development team. He was Head of the MS Scientific Differentiation Team. Previously, Dr. Rückert was the Global Clinical Leader at Bayer AG in Berlin, where he established and build-up the ophthalmology franchise and led the clinical development of now blockbuster Eylea, driving all aspects from preclinical research, to regulatory and medical affairs to establishing the clinical and brand teams. Before joining Bayer, Rene was academic lecturer and led a research group in Immunology. He is author of many peer-reviewed publications and patents and served as doctor in Internal Medicine and Dermatology.
